100 Day Push Up Challenge

Last year we held a very successful and very fun bodyweight challenge over the Christmas/New Year period that involved doing a set number of burpees over 30 days.
Well it’s on again this year, but with a twist.
Starting on Monday 26 September 2011 is our,

“100 Day Push Up Challenge”

Holiday Burpee Challenge

Who plans on slacking off over the Xmas/New Year Period?
Who would prefer to eat, drink and be merry than train?
No one? Awesome! 🙂

Just in case you were thinking of taking it easy, we’ve come up with a little holiday challenge for everyone.

From Monday 13th December 2010 to Tuesday 11th January 2011 we will be running

The Cell’s Holiday Burpee Challenge

How does it work?
Commencing Monday 13th (Day 1), you will perform 2 Burpees. Tuesday 14th you perform 4 Burpees. Wednesday 15th you perform 6 Burpees and so on. You continue to add 2 Burpees each and every day until you reach the final and 30th day, Tuesday 11th January where you will perform 60 Burpees.

– You can partition the Burpees however you like. EG On Day 15 – 10 in the morning, 10 at lunch and 10 before bed.
– If you miss a day, you must perform the missed days Burpees before completing that days allotment
– You must let everyone know, by commenting on this post, that you are participating

Winthrop Baptist College

Congratulations to the boys and girls form Winthrop Baptist College! Another excellent display of physical performance, accompanied by mental strength and intellectual stimulus at the end of a hard day’s training session! Also, a well done to all those students at Winthrop who participated today and well done to those dedicated young athletes who competed in their triathlon not long ago.

32km Bike ride
7km Run

Fastest competitor from the group finished in under 1hr and 45mins!

The Cell – Real Fitness Standards

Are you fit? Really fit? Fit for the Real world? Fit for life? Fit for combat? Fit for sport?

Check out The Cell – Real Fitness Standards and see where you are at.

These standards have been developed by The Cell coaches over the past 6 months with input from various sources; CrossFit affiliates, The Cell members, Concept 2, Soldiers, Police Officers and elite athletes.

The Cell will use these standards to grade our members. 3-4 times a year we will offer grading days, similar to what a martial arts studio offers. Members will be able to attend, test themselves against a random selection, from their nominated level, of 10 movements.

Those who pass will be awarded a t-shirt, wrist band, certificate and a place on the “Real Fitness Whiteboard” at The Cell.

The Cell Challenge

During 2010, The Cell will be running a number of challenges for our members. The first challenge will commence on Saturday 6th February and run for 6 weeks.

Here’s how it works:

On Saturday 6th February at 12pm, we will run the Challenge baseline WOD. 6-weeks later on Saturday 20th March at 12pm we will run the Challenge Test WOD.

There will be 4 winners.
Fastest Male
Fastest Female
Most Improved Male
Most Improved Female

There is an entry fee of $30 which wholly funds the CASH PRIZES on offer!! For example, if 30 people enter, there will be a $900 purse. This will be divided equally between the 4 winners, $225 each!!

The first Challenge WOD is,
For time:
1600m Sandbag Carry
Men – 25kg
Women – 15kg

Rules & Procedure
– No scaling is permitted
– If you cannot participate on Baseline Day, you must perform the Baseline after 6/2/10 but before 13/2/10
– If you cannot participate on Test Day, you must perform the Test before 20/3/10
– Payment is required in full before or on Baseline Day
– Prizes will be awarded to the Male and Female who complete the WOD in fastest time on Test Day AND the Male and Female who show the most improvement between Baseline Day and Test Day
– Prizes will consist of Cash divided equally from the entry fee purse
– The Cell receives no remuneration from the Challenge
