Sunday 19 September 2010

Posted by The Coach on September 18th, 2010

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait & not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you dream & not make dreams your master;
If you can think & not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph & Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop & build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose & start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart & nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds & keep your virtue, or walk with Kings – nor lose the common touch, if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, if all men count with you, but none too much; if you can fill the unforgiving minute. With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run, yours is the Earth & everything that’s in it – which is more – you’ll be a Man, my son! Rudyard Kipling.

    I agree Stef – great weather and beautiful people. Perfect start to a Sunday.

    Bibra Lake Fun Run (6. Something kms)

    30.07 mins by my watch.

    Anyone up for Port to Port in Nov??? 🙂

    I really enjoyed the run today. Tried hard to keep my legs moving at Lisa’s pace, but slowed a little towards the end.

    My mum is having spinal decompression laminectomy and lumbar fusion on Tuesday 😦 She trains everyday – weights and rpm. She was my inspiration for my run today, maybe that was why I ran so fast.

    Hey Mandy, I’m not sure what that is, but it doesn;t sound nice. Give your Mum our best. Hope recovery is swift and as painless as possible.

    Great turn out at the Bibra Lake fun run today. It was great to see The Cell well represented and show what a great community of awesome people we have.

    Port to Port would be great Lis, but I’ll be in Canberra that weekend and the following week for training with Coach Blauer. If someone else wants to get things happening for it, I reckon it would be a great event.

    On that note, I’m keen to get Cell teams involved in some of the multi-sport events happening over the summer.

    – Cott Beach Ocean Adventure 12 Feb
    – Freo Corporate Tri 27 March
    – Coogee Beach Tri and/or Ocean Adventure 3 April

    If you’re keen on getting a team or three together for these, please drop me an email.

    Jase 🙂
