Lakota Instructions for Living (Native America)

“Friend do it this way – that is, whatever you do in life, do the very best you can with both your heart and mind. And if you do it that way, the Power Of The Universe will come to your assistance, if your heart and mind are in Unity. When one sits in the Hoop Of The People, one must be responsible because all of Creation is related. And the hurt of one is the hurt of all. And the honor of one is the honor of all. And whatever we do effects everything in the universe. If you do it that way – that is, if you truly join your heart and mind as One – whatever you ask for, that’s the Way It’s Going To Be”. Passed down from White Buffalo Calf Woman.

    Warm-up = Dynamic mobility, Back squat x 5 @ 15, 45kg.

Back Squat 5 x 5 @ 65kg (I kept it light to focus on speed, and bouncing out of the bottom).

    Tabata Pullups (6 sets) 12, 11, 10, 9, 7, 6

    Handstand wall runs x 60, 40, 40

Lately I have been looking on youtube at Oly lifters heavy squatting, and I noticed even though the weight is f^(ing heavy they always use the bounce to spring out of the bottom. This bounce seems to keep the speed high enough to overcome any flat spots on the way up.

I am definitely not doing this, especially as the weight gets heavier, so am starting to train this aspect of the lift.

That’s the stretch reflex that I often talk about. Use it!

With oly litters, they also use the spring of the bar to get up out of the bottom after catching a heavy clean in a low front squat.

It’s from a joke Stef. I’ll explain next time I see you. It’s my version of philosophy; humour 😉

Warm up: calf stretch / slow, wide, lunges / neck & shoulder mobility

WOD: 10km run South Freo to North & back.
Just over 50 mins. Not a record breaker, but I didn’t feel like I was about to hyperventilate when I got home…Cross fit progress in motion 😉
