Help Send Our Athletes to The CrossFit Games Regional Qualifiers

Posted by The Coach on April 1st, 2010

We have a massive night coming up on Friday 30th April!!

As many of you already know two of The Cell’s athletes, Stef and Michelle, have qualified for the CrossFit Games Regional Qualifier in Sydney. The top athletes from these qualifiers earn a place at the World CrossFit Games in Aromas, California.

To enable Stef and Michelle to attend the Regionals and focus solely on their performance, The Cell is holding a fundraising extraveganza to raise some much needed travel funds.

On Friday 30th April 2010 from 5.30pm at The Cell, we’ll be holding:

  • Tabata Squats for Cash
  • Auction

We’ll also have plenty of nibblies and drinks on offer.

Tabata Squats (Thanks to Mick at CFX for this idea)
Involves athletes being sponsored 20 cents per rep. First you nominate to participate by emailing Jason, then you start hitting up friends, relatives, work mates, the postie, whoever you can, to sponsor you 20 cents for every rep you do. For instance, if you do 15 reps per set of Tabata’s, multply that by the 8 sets and that’s $24 raised! The challenge is on for you to hit up as many sponsor’s as you can and then hit them in the hip pocket by smashing out as many reps as you can.

Auction (Great idea Carole!)
We have had an enormous response from individuals and businesses who have all put up their hand to donate products and services for our Auction. There are some awesome items to be auctioned, including:

  • 6-Pack of Prograde Kettlebells, valued at over $700 from Australian Kettlebells
  • Acrobatic joy flight with Brad Rogan from the Royal Aero Club
  • Two 5-packs of 1hr consultations with Peter Yeates – Naturopath, valued at over $800
  • Pilates consultation and session with Gary Russo – Physiotherapist
  • Autographed copy of Commando Steve’s newly released autobiography. Thanks to Mick and Steve at CFX
  • Gourmet food hamper from Ready, Chef, Go
  • Foam Roller, valued at $90 from Trigger Point Therapies
  • $250 voucher at ‘Gigi on George’ Restaurant
  • 2 sets of Power Rings, valued at over $190 from Australian Kettlebells

Get behind this great event, wind down after the week at work, have some fun, pick up some great products for an awesome price and help Stef and Michelle show the rest of the country what WA CrossFitters are made of!

Please email Jason to register for the Tabata fundraiser and to assist with catering, please RSVP to Stef.

All funds raised will go totally to Stef and Michelle’s travel costs. Should there be an excess of funds or should Michelle and/or Stef pull out of the Regionals for whatever reason, the funds raised will be donated to Princess Margaret Hospital for Children.

That is a shame Jane. In setting the date I was totally anal about making sure nothing else was on. Unfortunately I missed the Ironman. Doh!! Feel free to bid on any items via phone though 🙂

Just tell people you need to squat for 4 minutes and however many you can do x 20 cents. A bit like the old lapathon at school. Don’t bother trying to explain tabatas 😉
